Renaming with dates
Date renaming allows you to name items based on their creation or modification dates. It is accessed through the Actions button in the Info window toolbar, which brings up a window with several options.
Date to use
Use the popup menu with two items, Use creation date and Use modified date to specify which date to use.

Some files, such as those created by some digital cameras, do not have valid creation and last modified dates. If the date you specified has not been set for a file being renamed, File Buddy will automatically use the other date instead.
Date formatting options
The date format pop-up menu contains the basic date formats available for creating date strings. Each of these basic formats can be modified by the following options:
24-hour time
If on, the date formats will use a 24-hour clock; if off, they use a 12-hour clock and AM/PM as appropriate.
Include seconds
If on, date formats which include the time will include seconds.
Leading 0s
If on, date formats will prepend a '0' to single-digit days and months. Does not apply to full dates such a April 4, 2004.
4-digit years
If on, date formats will use the full 4-digit year in dates; if off, they will use 2-digit years. Does not apply to full dates such a April 4, 2004, which always use 4-digit years.
Separate date and time with
For date formats which include the time, this menu allows you to choose the text which appears between the date and the time.
Prefixing options
Options for additional text to be used at the beginning of every name. The options are:
Prefix with
Prefix the sequence with the text in the corresponding field.
Prefix with parent name
Prefix the sequence with the name of the folder containing the file to be renamed.
Prefix with parent name +
Prefix the sequence with the name of the folder containing the file to be renamed and any text in the corresponding text field.
Prefix with current name
Prefix the sequence with the current name of the item (the name before File Buddy renames it).
Prefix with current name +
Prefix the sequence with the current name of the item and any text in the corresponding field.
No prefix
The name will begin with the current sequence text.
Appending options
Options for additional text to be used at the end of every name. The options are:
Append this
Append the text in the corresponding field to the end of the sequence.
Append parent name
Append the name of the folder containing the file to be renamed.
Append this + parent name
Append any text in the corresponding text field and the name of the folder containing the file to be renamed.
Append current name
Append the current name of the item (the name before File Buddy renames it).
Append this + current name
Append any text in the corresponding text field and the current name of the item.
Don't append
Don't append text to the current sequence text.
